First, at noon on a Thursday or Sunday when the moon is waxing, you must go outside the village and bring with you a brightly shining sword and a hoopoe bird and use the sword to make circles in some remote place. After you have done that, with the point of the sword you must write the sixteen names as given below in the figure. When that is done, you must make a drawing of the sword inside the circle at the east, as shown in this design [ ] With that done, you should tie the hoopoe to you so that it cannot get away from the inside circle, in which you must be standing. And with that done, while kneeling, facing east and holding the sword with both hands, say these words:
Oymelor, Demefin, Lamair, Masair, Symofor, Rodobayl, Tentetos, Lotobor, Memoyr, Tamafin, Leutaber, Tatomofon, Faubair, Selutabel, Rimasor, Syrama - spirits most festive, happy and joyful, I, so-and-so, adjure you by the Sun, Moon and all the heavenly stars; by all those that can frighten and bind you; and by the power of those who must come when i call them: you must come here to this spot without delay, in a gentle, calm and joyous form, and cause whatever I say to appear...
